Introduction to Blacksmithing
This is an 8-hour program that stresses a hands-on approach.
This is a full working day in the forge.
No previous experience/knowledge is required.
This 8 hour session is a hands-on introduction to the gas forge, basic hand tools, anvil as well as anvil tooling, hammers and their various usages.
Students will have the opportunity to complete several projects they will then take home at the end of the course.
What will you learn?
• Cutting
• Drawing
• Tapering
• Bending
• Twisting
• Flattening
• Punching holes
• Decorative scrolling through the manipulation of the steel
Projects:
There are a variety of project to choose from such as, leaf key rings, feather key rings, letter openers, hooks (post hooks, S- hooks) small pendants Leaves/ feathers, candle holders or fire poker
What to do/bring
Please bring safety glasses, wear boots and cotton clothing (example: jeans, sweatshirt)
Dress in layers you warm up fast!
If you have long hair, please tie it back.
No long, dangling jewelry.
Water - you will want to stay hydrated - you may also bring snacks/food.
You are welcome to bring you own tools (i.e. hammer, tongs) if you do not own your own tools there will be tools provide for your usage.
Course fee of $325.00
(Course is a private/semi private course max two people)
This will ensure that 100% of the teachers attention can be given to the student.

Basic Bladesmith Course
Student will forge and work to finish a small knife.
This two-day (16-hours) class will introduce the student to the basic techniques required to produce simple hand forged belt knife from a billet.
The course will teach how to:
• Draw out the billet
• Shape the profile
• Set/punch pin holes (for scales)
• Blade profiling
• Basic finishing
• Heat treating
• Scaling
• Final finishing
• Sheath construction (kydex)
What to bring
